Create Posts Using the Composer

A post is a form of content—text, images, links, and more—published within a Space. Use the composer to create posts and share them with your community to start discussions, ask questions, publish information, and engage members.

The Structure of a Published Post

Poster
The member who created and published the post.
Space
The Space where the post was published.
Post Title
The main heading (H1) that names or describes the post.
Body Text
The main content of the post. You can customize this with formatting, emojis, images, files, and other options.
Tag
A label used to categorize posts within Spaces. You can create or select tags in the composer or when editing a post.
Reaction
A response to a post in which a member selects one of several emojis to indicate their feelings about the post content.
Interactions
A display showing how many replies and followers the post has generated.
Post Actions
Options to like, follow, or share a post.
Reply
A published response to a post.
Reply to Comment
A direct response to a specific comment.
Second-Level Reply
A published response to a reply that threads underneath it. By default, this automatically mentions the other poster.
Reply to Post
A direct response to the main post.

Note: You can create custom post types using CMS models. This allows administrators to add custom fields to specific post types and helps guide members on what information should be included. Learn more about creating and editing CMS models.

Create a Post Using the Composer

  1. Navigate to a Space and click the composer block to start creating a post.

  2. Add a Post Title.

  3. Add the body text of your post and customize it with the following options:

    • Add Tags: Help categorize your post by adding relevant tags. See Posts: Add Tag to a Post for more details.
    • ⚡ Icon (Formatting Menu): Click this icon to access formatting and menu options.

      Shortcut: Type / to open the formatting menu options directly.

    • Rich Text Formatting: Use keyboard shortcuts and the formatting toolbar to apply bold, italic, underline, code blocks, and other text styles.
    • Include Emojis: Add emojis to your post for visual interest and tone.
    • Attach or Embed Images: Include images directly in your post body.
    • Attach Files: Add file attachments to your post.
  4. Click Publish to share your post.
