Learn how Bettermode's RSS feed can improve member retention and engagement in your site.
This feature is available to customers on all plans.
Using this feature, you can generate RSS Feeds for:
Replies under a certain post
Posts in a certain space
Posts created by a specific member
Site main feed (Home)
RSS feed allows members and admins to quickly find a URL and use it in their favorite RSS readers such as Feedly or Mailbrew, or even embed a feed into their marketing website or product.
âť—Note: RSS feeds only work for public pages in public sites.
How the RSS Feed can be used in Bettermode:
The RSS feed will help site builders in the following ways:
Providing more visibility to the site: Admins can use WordPress RSS plugins or tools such as Feedwind to add touchpoints to their site right in their product and marketing website. This can result in a thriving site.
Members can use their favorite RSS readers to stay up to date: Members can use products such as Feedly to get updates around the site next to the other RSS feeds they are following. Members can also receive aggregated email digests from multiple Bettermode sites and other RSS feeds using Mailbrew.
How to add a RSS Feed:
RSS feed for replies under a certain post: Find the post > click Share > click RSS > Copy the RSS link.
RSS feed for posts in a certain Space: Go to the Space > click [...] > click Share > click RSS > copy the RSS link.
RSS feed for posts on a certain member’s profile page: Go to the member’s profile page > click [...] > click Share > click RSS > copy RSS link.
RSS feed for the Main Feed: You can simply add /rss/feed to the end of the site URL and it generates the RSS feed code. You can also share your site URL (or example: https://community.bettermode.com) in external tools like Feedly and it will generate the feed for the homepage automatically.
Now, you can use the RSS link you have copied from the site and use it in the service of your choice. For example, you can use Feedly to create a custom page with components from many different resources, including Tribe feeds. Or, you can use Mailbrew to customize an email feed and send it as a digested email (daily or weekly emails) to yourself.
Embedding external RSS Feeds with HTML Block in Bettermode
If you're using an external website to host your content and want to display it inside your Bettermode community, there are a couple of flexible options:
iFrame Block or Rich Text Block: Ideal for displaying RSS-powered pages or widgets.
HTML Script Block: For deeper integration, you can copy the RSS embed/share code from your external service and paste it directly into an HTML script block inside your space layout.
How to embed an external RSS content in Bettermode using the HTML script Block:
To do this, simply:
Copy the RSS link or embed code from your external content provider.
Go to Design Studio > Collections and Spaces > select the space where you want the feed to appear.
Add an HTML Script block.
Paste the embed code and "Save" the block settings.
This is a great way to keep your community updated with content hosted elsewhere—seamlessly integrated into the experience.
âť—Note: Not all websites offer support for RSS sharing or provide embed codes. Additionally, this solution delivers an embedded experience, meaning posts are not automatically published in the community from an external RSS feed.
For a more advanced integration between an external site and Bettermode, consider developing a custom app using Bettermode’s APIs.
