Post file attachments and limitations
This article explains file size and type limitations, how to attach files to posts, and how to configure these settings as an admin.
Attaching files to a post
The following users can attach files to posts:
Post authors (when creating or editing their own posts)
Admins and moderators (can add or remove attachments from any published post)
Once a file is attached to a post, all users with access to that post can:
Preview the file (images and PDFs only)
Download the file

In the post composer, use these icons:
Attachment icon — attach a file
Image icon — attach an inline image
When you select the image icon, you can:
Upload a file from your device
Embed a file link
Search Unsplash for an image
Attach videos, audio, and embed links
Select the + icon at the bottom left of the post composer to attach:
Files
Images
Videos
Audio
Embedded links
File size and type limits
File attachment limits depend on your Bettermode pricing plan and your admin's configuration settings.
File size limits
Images: 10MB (all plans)
File attachments: 50MB (Starter/Growth/Premium plans)
File attachments: 500MB (Growth/Premium)
File type limits
Supported by default (all plans):
Images (all formats)
Audio (all formats)
Video (all formats)
PDF documents
Preview capability: Only images and PDFs can be previewed. All other file types can be downloaded but not previewed.
Additional file types: To enable high-risk file types such as .docx files, your admin must explicitly enable them. This capability is available on Growth and Premium plans only.
How admins can configure file limits
Change the file size limit
By default, your plan's maximum file size applies. To set a lower limit:
Go to Administration > Settings > Site settings > Media settings
Change the Attachment and video size limit
Click Update to save your changes
Enable additional file types
Note: This feature is available on Growth and Premium plans only.
To allow users to attach additional file types (such as .docx):
Go to Administration > Settings > Site settings > Media settings
Under Supported file types, add the file type using one of these formats:
MIME type notation (example:
image/*)File extension with a leading period (example:
.docx)
Click Update to save your changes
