Exporting and suspending members

Released on June 25th, 2022

We’ve released lots of new features over the past few weeks. Today, we are excited to announce five new features.

Exporting members

Bettermode gives you complete ownership of your data. Until now, Bettermode API was used for exporting members. With this update, now admins can export member data in CSV format directly from the Members section within Administration.

All you need to do is click on the Export button after applying the filters. This helps you export a targeted list of members. Without any filter, the data for all the members will be downloaded.

Note that only the fields enabled when exporting will be available in the export file. In the future, we’ll give the option to export data for all the fields as well as only the visible fields.

Improved admin invitation

When you are inviting members, now you can assign a role, i.e., admin, moderator, or member. Simply select the role from the dropdown menu when you’re sending an invitation.

Apart from that, if you have already invited some members who have not yet joined the community, you can still assign them an admin or moderator role from the Administrators section.

So, now you have two ways to assign roles to the community members — during the invitation and after the invitation.

Suspending members

In some cases, you may not want to delete a member, instead, for different reasons you want to make sure the member cannot login temporarily or permanently.

You can now simply suspend members in the Members section within Administration. When a member is suspended, they’ll get logged out right away, they will not receive any emails from the community, and if they try to log in they’ll see a message informing them that their account is suspended. As an admin, you can revoke suspension at any time.

Manual email verification

Now it is possible to manually verify their community members' email addresses without the member's need to verify using email verification. In the Members section within Administration, look for members with “Unverified” status. Then, click on the ellipsis (…) link and click on Verify email address.

This option is useful when invited members for some reason cannot verify due to lack of access to email or for any other reason.
