Feed sorting, moving posts, and unread posts count

Released on June 9th, 2022

Today I’m excited to share three features that will improve community experience and administration. Let’s dive in!

This video features our former brand, Tribe. Since then, Tribe has undergone a rebrand and is now known as Bettermode.

Unread posts count

It is important to update members with the new content posted in the community from the time they last logged in.

From today, a number will be displayed next to the Space name on the sidebar. That will give members a clear view of the volume of the content they need to catch up to based on the Spaces they have joined.

Sorting feed

In Bettermode communities, the feed is the most important element to keep the members updated with content posted in the community. Until now the feed was presented only based on the recency of the post creation time.

However, depending on the use case there is a need to view the content based on the recency of activities such as reactions and comments as well as popularity. This way, important and engaging posts won’t get hidden.

With this update, now there are four options to sort feed:

  • Latest: newest posts will be displayed first

  • Recent activity: posts that recently received reactions and comments will be displayed first

  • Most replied

  • Most reacted

This update has also been built into the Customizer so you can select what should be the default feed sorting for the members. Of course, members can always select their preferred feed sorting.

Moving Posts

Do you sometimes see your community members posting content in the wrong Spaces? Well, we have experienced this in Campfire.

Today, I am happy to share that we have a fix for this. We’re introducing the “Move post” feature so you can manually move a post posted in the wrong Space to the correct Space.

Simply click on the ellipsis (…) link on the top right of the post, click on Move post and select the Space to which you would like to move the post.

Note that if you move a post from a public Space to a private Space in which the author and participants are not the members, they won’t be able to access the post.
