Enabling community admins to add new functionality to the community through the apps is key to Bettermode Platform’s customizability and extensibility. Currently, the apps are either built by the Bettermode team or by certain customers specifically for their community.
This video features our former brand, Tribe. Since then, Tribe has undergone a rebrand and is now known as Bettermode.
For example, some of our customers had built the FullStory app even before Bettermode launched the official FullStory integration. Another example of a custom app is an SMS-based community authentication app created by one of our customers.
Now, our immediate goal is to make it absolutely easy to build apps on top of the Bettermode Platform. That way you can transform your community exactly the way you like. A step in that direction is open-sourcing the apps. Some of the open-source apps you can access right away are Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Slack, and Google Tag Manager.
This will help developers get a better understanding of how the underlying code for the apps works. We also welcome feedback from the community to help us improve the apps. This is an amazing example of a software product and the community reinforcing one another.
Apart from the apps, we’ve also released a Bettermode Starter App on GitHub. This serves as a template for apps and contains all the components developers need, including the database, frontend, backend, and webhooks.
We’re excited to see the type of apps you will build!
