Released on 9th March 2022
We have released SEO settings and support for Open Graph (OG) images. SEO settings will help you add metadata such as title and description which generally show up on search engine results.
This video features our former brand, Tribe. Since then, Tribe has undergone a rebrand and is now known as Bettermode.
This can improve your search engine presence by making it easier to find your community when people search for relevant content. Improved ranking and presentation on search engines drive more organic visitors to your community and boost member acquisition.
It's worth mentioning that we're also generating extra SEO metadata such as JSON-LD (used by Google and Bing), Twitter labels (used by Twitter and Slack), and canonical links to make sure your content is displayed in the best way in social media platforms, messaging apps, and search results.
Here is how SEO settings work:
Community: Title and description can be added in community settings. By default, the community name is used as the title. The description is generated in this format: Join <community name> to start sharing and connecting with like-minded people.
Spaces: Title and description can be added in Space settings. By default, the Space name is used as the title, and the description is used as the meta description.
Posts: Title and description can be added in post settings. By default, the Post title is used as the title, and the meta description is automatically generated from the post content.
If you don’t want search engines to index any of your community pages, simply turn on the toggle for “Hide from search results” in SEO settings for the community.
OG images make your community content more clickable, shareable, and appealing on social media by displaying an image. The most frequently recommended resolution for an OG image is 1200 pixels x 628 pixels (1.91:1 ratio).
Here is how OG images work in Bettermode communities:
Community: If you don’t add an image for social sharing (OG image), Bettermode will use your community logo.
Spaces: If you don’t add an OG image, the Space image will be used. If Space image is not defined it’ll use your community image instead.
Posts: If you don’t specify an OG image, Bettermode will use the first image in your post. If there are no images in the post, it’ll use Space image. If that’s not available either the community image will be used.
SEO Settings are available on all pricing plans.
What’s next?
Ability to change the URL address (slug) for posts.
Ability to customize the SEO settings of almost all pages in the community. (e.g. Members and Spaces)
