Understanding access levels and registration options

Control who can view your community and how new members join by configuring your access level and registration method.

Access Levels

Your access level determines who can view content on your community:

  • Public: Any visitor can view content. By default, communities are set to public. If you want to take any actions on the site, you'll be asked to log in or sign up.
  • Private: Visitors cannot view content unless they sign up or log in as a member.

For detailed instructions on each access level and how to change your settings, see Community Access Settings.

Registration Options

Choose how new members can join your community:

  • Public: Anyone with a valid email address can register. This is the default option.
  • Invitation: Only users who received an invitation email can register.
  • Social Login: Users can register using their social media accounts.
  • SSO (Single Sign-On): Users can log in using existing accounts from your designated app or website—no separate registration required.
