Create and assign member badges

Use badges to identify types of members and help admins and moderators segment users based on different criteria and purposes.

Create a badge

1. Log in with an admin account
2. Navigate to Administration > People > Badges
3. Click Add badges to create a new customized badge, or select a ready-to-use smart badge (Role or New Member)
   • For custom badges: add a name, description, color, and style, then define where the badge should display
   • Click Create to add the badge to your site

Smart badges (automatic)

Bettermode provides two pre-built smart badges that assign automatically when enabled:

• Role: Automatically identifies users with Admin or Moderator roles
• New Member: Automatically identifies members during their first 14 days after sign-up

Assign a badge to a member

Assign to a single member

1. Log in with an admin account
2. Go to the member's profile page
3. Click the menu icon (...) in the top-right corner and select Manage badges
4. Select one or more badges from the list of badges you've created
5. Click Update badges

Note: You can assign multiple badges to a single member's profile.

Assign to multiple members at once

1. Log in with an admin account
2. Navigate to Administration > People > Members
3. Use Add filter to select a group of members
4. Click Actions > Assign badge to add badges to all selected members' profiles

Assign automatically using Zapier or API

Use the Zapier app or API to automatically assign or revoke custom badges based on custom criteria. For example, you can assign a badge to members who create a certain number of posts in a Space.

Reorder how badges display

1. Log in with an admin account
2. Navigate to Administration > People > Badges
3. Click and drag the six-dot handle icon to reorder badge display

   

Example: Create a "Verified Member" badge

1. Click Add badge
2. Under badge style, select Image badge
3. Add a checkmark emoji (✔️ or ✅) as the style
4. Click Create
5. The verification emoji will display next to the member's account
