The Profile is a great way for a member to show who they are. The Account Settings is the place to manage the account email, connected social accounts, passwords, and notifications. This article explains how to update the profile and edit the account settings.
.Member Profile
A Member Profile is composed of the following:
Profile Image
Member's name
Tagline (a one-line short description of the member)
Cover image
Date when the member joined
Member email (only visible to the profile owner, moderators, and admins)
Posts tab: shows posts created by the member.
Replies tab: shows all the replies created by the member.
Spaces tab: shows the Spaces that the member is a part of.
Edit the Profile
All members can access and edit their Profiles. Click Profile in the left sidebar or click on the Profile picture on the top-right navigation bar.
Profile Image: upload a new one by clicking on the avatar on the left side of your name > Select the file > Confirm. The recommended size of at least 400x400 pixels.
Name and Tagline: edit by clicking on Edit Profile > Add the entries and click on Update.
Cover Image: add one to the profile by clicking on Add Cover Image > Select to upload a file, use an external image by pasting the link on the Link tab, or select a preferable image on the Unsplash tab.
❗Note: Members can only see the Edit Profile button on their own Profiles, while Admins have access to edit all Members’ Profiles.
Account Settings
Each member can set their Account Settings according to their preferences. Profile details, email registered, social accounts connected, login credentials (password), and notifications.
Update the Account Settings
Any member can access and update their own Account Settings. Click on the Profile picture on the top-right navigation bar > Click on Account Settings > Update the settings under the Account and Notifications.
Account
Email: update your email address by adding a new one > Click on Update to save the changes.
Password: click on the Change password button to update your password
Language: if additional language packs are enabled, members can select their preferred language,
Connected Accounts: if Social Login is available for the site, click on the available option to connect to your site account.
Cookies: manage the account cookie consent if the Cookie Consent Manager app is enabled. Click on Manage > Enable/Disable the toggles available to the preference > Click on Requires cookies only or Submit preferences.
Delete account.
Notifications
Notifications let members know about activities on the site and ensure engagement and that nothing gets missed. In the Notifications tab, members can choose what type of activity they will be notified about and how they will be notified. This includes site-wide and space-specific notification settings.
Notification Channels
Here are two channels to receive site notifications:
Email Notifications: Notifications for a member's followed Spaces/content received by the email associated with their account.
Desktop Notifications: Notifications for a member's followed Spaces/content received in the browser.
Email and Desktop Notifications can be turned on or off using the toggle in the Notifications section of a Member's Account Settings
❗ Note: The Email toggle overwrites the Email Notifications options available in the Notification types section, presented below. If you disable Email Notifications from here, you will receive no email notification from the site on your email address dedicated to this profile.
Notification types
Members can choose if they want to be notified about Mentions and Reactions in-app and/or by email by changing the toggles in the Notifications section of a Member's Account Settings.
Spaces
Members can configure the Notification Settings of each Space that they are part of.
Click the Manage button after a Space name:
Any member can customize Space notifications according to the options below:
All activity: notify members about new posts and replies in the specific space.
New Posts: notify members only about new posts in the specific space.
Posts of Interest: notify members only about new comments and reactions to their posts and posts they previously commented on in the specific space.
Use different settings for email notifications: choose different settings for the email notifications.ㅤ❗Note: The Use different settings for email notifications option is only available if the Email Notifications are enabled in the Notification Channels section (explained above).
Messaging
If direct message is enabled, members can manage their blocked members.
Appearance
If dual themes are enabled, members can select their preferred theme.
