Create and update a custom Profile Field

Use Profile Fields to gather helpful information about site members. Depending on which Profile Fields are enabled within the site by admins, members can add Company Name, Location, Social Media accounts, and many other options to their site profile.

Admins can customize the list of Profile Fields supported in their communities by choosing from the preset fields or adding new custom fields. Admins can also define "who can edit" and "who can see" each profile field.

How to access and customize Profile Fields

Log in with your Admin Account > Click on your Profile picture in the top-right > Administration > People > Profile Fields. You can see a preview of enabled Profile Fields in the About Section.

Adding a Profile Field:

From the Profile Fields page, admins can add a customized New Field or pick from the ready-to-use Suggested Fields.

Customize a Profile Field:

Once a Profile Field is added, admins can further customize the fields by clicking on the Field > making the adjustments to the Type and Name > clicking on Advanced options for more customizability > click Update to save changes.

❗Note: Advanced options like “Who can see this field” and “Who can update this field” are only available to Bettermode's Advanced and Enterprise customers.

Advanced Options

For private user information, admins can change the settings for “Who can see this field” to Owner and Admins or Only admins. In some cases, the Profile Fields should be completed by and accessible to Admins only. For example, Admins might not want the owner of the profile to be able to see or update a field called “Pricing Plan” or "Subscription Tier".
