Activating post type settings
Why post types matter
Post types define the structure and composition of content in your community. They provide specific fields for different content purposes, helping you and your members create consistent, purposeful posts. Each post type controls:
- How posts are composed
- How members can reply to posts
- How members can react to posts
You can activate multiple post types per space, but each posts block displays only one post type per view.
How to activate or deactivate post types
- Log in with your admin account and navigate to your profile image in the top header.
- Select Administration.
- Go to the Content section and select the Spaces tab.
- Find the space you want to edit and click [...] > Settings.
- Select the Post types tab.
- Toggle each post type on or off by clicking its toggle button.
Available post types
Your community can include the following post types:
- Discussion
- Question
- Idea
- Event
- Article
- Job
- Product update
- Changelog
You can also create custom post types tailored to your community's needs.
Configuring post type permissions
Most post types allow you to configure three permission settings:
- Who can post?
- Who can comment?
- Who can react?
The Job post type has only two settings: Who can post? and Who can react? (comments are not available for jobs).
Permission options
For each permission setting, you can choose from:
- Everyone โ Any community member can post, regardless of whether they've joined the space
- Space members, space admins, and staff โ Only those who have joined the space can post
- Space admins and staff โ Only space administrators and staff members can post
- Nobody โ No one can post in the space
