Bettermode’s Post Analytics is a powerful tool that allows admins to track and analyze the performance of individual posts within the site. This feature provides detailed insights into post interactions, including replies, reactions, and page views. It also allows you to segment data based on user roles and select custom timeframes for more granular analysis. This article outlines the key features of post analytics and explains how to use them to optimize content strategy and community engagement.
How to access post analytics
Log in as an Admin, and access the Administration (Profile Picture > Administration)
Navigate to the Content section (📁) > Posts.
Find the post that you would like to view.
💡 Tip: If you are looking for a specific post, use the search bar
Select the “…” beside the post and select Post analytics.
Alternatively, you can navigate to the post and select “…” > Post analytics or navigate to the post page and use the keyboard shortcut ⌥/alt
+ A
.
Note: the arrows/numbers (either in green or red) beside certain data points is a comparison of the previous timeframe selected.
For example, in the image below, the text in green indicates that the post's reactions has increased by 20% compared to the previous 7 days (which is the current time frame selected).
Key Features
1. Segmentation by User Role
Bettermode allows you to segment post analytics based on user roles, providing a clearer picture of how different types of users interact with a post. You can choose between:
Everyones: Includes data from all users.
Non-admins: Excludes admins and moderators and focuses on the interactions from regular members.
2. Custom Timeframe Selection
You can select a custom timeframe to analyze a post’s performance over a specific period. This feature is useful for tracking post engagement during events, promotions, or campaigns.
Select the timeframe by using drop-down menu and select the timeframe. You can select predefined periods such as "Last 7 days" or define your own custom range.
3. New Replies
Post analytics tracks the number of new replies a post receives within the selected timeframe. This helps gauge the level of interaction and discussion the post generates.
4. New Reactions
You can also track the number of new reactions (likes, emojis, etc.) the post receives within the selected timeframe. This provides an indicator of how the post resonates with the community.
5. Activity by Role (Admins, Moderators, and Members)
See the breakdown of activity (replies and reactions) by different user roles, such as admins, moderators, and members. This segmentation helps you understand which group is driving the most engagement on a post.
6. Page Views (daily)
The total page views for a post can be broken down on a daily basis, showing which days the post received the most views within the selected timeframe. Additionally, you can see if the views came primarily from guests or logged-in members, helping you understand whether the post is attracting external traffic or mainly engaging existing community members.
Note: This data point is not unique. Bettermode currently does not collect unique views on a post.
💡 Note: It is possible to get Guest views even if your site or space is private.
For example: if a member receives an email notification for the post and they click on the link to the post but they are not logged in (therefore they are unable to view the actual post); this will result in a guest view.
7. Activity Over Time (daily)
Track the daily activity on a post over time, broken down by replies and reactions. This feature provides a visual representation of how engagement evolves over the selected timeframe.
The activity can be broken down by day, giving insight into when the post was most active in terms of replies and reactions, allowing you to understand peak engagement days.
8. Popular Days of the Week
Identify the most popular days of the week for a particular post, based on page views within the selected timeframe. This information is valuable for understanding when your post is attracting the most attention and can inform the timing of future posts.
9. Popular Hours of the Day
In addition to showing popular days, the analytics tool provides data on the most popular hours of the day for page views within the selected timeframe. This is useful for determining the optimal time to post content in order to maximize visibility and engagement.
Use Cases for Post Analytics
Evaluating Post Performance: Track how well a post performs in terms of replies, reactions, and page views, helping you refine your content strategy.
Understanding Audience Segments: Use segmentation to understand how different types of users (admins, moderators, members) engage with posts.
Optimizing Post Timing: Analyze popular days and hours to determine the best time to publish posts to maximize engagement.
Tracking Campaign Effectiveness: Use the custom timeframe feature to monitor how well a post performs during specific events, promotions, or campaigns.
Audience Targeting: Analyze the breakdown of page views between guests and members to see if your content is attracting external users or primarily engaging your site.
Post Analytics in Bettermode offers admins a comprehensive set of tools to track and analyze post performance. With the ability to segment data, select custom timeframes, and view detailed metrics such as replies, reactions, and page views, you can gain valuable insights into how your content resonates with your community.
