Bettermode Reports: Reach and Engagement Overview

The Reach and Engagement section of Bettermode’s Reporting provides Admins with a comprehensive overview of user activities, visits, and interaction patterns. This data allows administrators to monitor and improve engagement, identify trends, and optimize the community experience.

How to Access Bettermode Reports: Overview

  1. Log in with your Admin account

  2. Navigate to the Administration > Reports

  3. Click on the Reach & engagement tab and select a segment and/or timeframe on the top-right corner.

Key Features in the Reach and Engagement Section

  1. Data Segmentation Admins have the option to view metrics based on user segmentation:

    • Everyone: Includes all user roles, such as members and admins.

    • Non-admins: Excludes admin and moderator activity to focus solely on how members are engaging with the platform.

This flexibility helps admins focus on the data that matters most, whether it's overall activity or member-driven engagement.

  2. Custom Timeframe Selection With the ability to select a custom timeframe, admins can focus on data for any period they wish to analyze. Whether you’re tracking recent trends or comparing long-term performance, this feature ensures your insights are specific and actionable.

  3. New Activities This section provides a detailed count of new activities during the selected timeframe. The activities are divided into:

    • Posts: New content or discussions created by users.

    • Replies: Comments or responses to existing posts.

    • Reactions: User engagement with posts through likes, upvotes, or other reaction mechanisms.

This breakdown allows admins to see what type of engagement is most common, helping them identify patterns and preferences within their community.

  4. Activity by Role Break down new activities by role, showing contributions made by:

    • Admins: Community administrators who manage and facilitate interactions.

    • Moderators: Users with moderation capabilities, helping maintain order and community standards.

    • Members: Regular users who actively participate in the community.

This segmentation helps identify which group is driving most of the activity and assess the balance between administrative contributions and organic member engagement.

  5. Total Page Views The total page views metric shows how many pages users have visited within the community during the selected timeframe. This gives admins a sense of the overall traffic and interest levels in different parts of the community, helping track both active and passive engagement.

Note: Page views are not unique. If a browser is refreshed or a page is loaded on another browser tab, this will count each page load as an individual page view.

6. Unique Visits This feature tracks unique visits to the platform daily. These visits are also broken down by user type:

  • Members: Registered users interacting with the platform.

  • Guests: Non-logged-in users viewing public content or landing on site pages (such as the log in page for private sites)

By distinguishing between members and guests, admins can understand community reach beyond active participants and identify potential new members.

Note: Guests are non-logged in users. If the site is private, you can still have guests visit the community. If a user tries to access a page on the site, they are counted as a guest until they are actually logged in. For example, if a user goes to the log in page or if they clicked on a link in a notification email but they are not signed in.

  1. Activity Over Time The activity over time feature provides a daily breakdown of user actions, specifically:

    • Posts: New content contributions.

    • Replies: Engagement through comments and discussions.

    • Reactions: Quick engagement such as likes or upvotes.

This daily breakdown helps admins track trends in user behavior over the selected timeframe, revealing peak periods of engagement and activity dips.

  2. Popular Days of the Week Bettermode provides insight into the most popular days of the week based on page views. This feature helps admins identify which days their community is most active, allowing them to optimize content publishing and event scheduling for maximum engagement.

  3. Popular Hours of the Day In addition to day-based trends, admins can also see the popular hours of the day for user activity. This helps admins understand when their audience is most likely to engage with the community, which can inform the best times to post content or run events.
